London ULEZ + Congestion Charge 2026: how the new rules change your cleaning and removals quote.
If you're booking a cleaner, removals team or handyman inside central London in 2026, the £18 daily Congestion Charge plus the 24/7 ULEZ are now baked into nearly every quote. Here's what's actually changed and what a fair access charge looks like in 2026.
What the rules are now
- Congestion Charge: £18/day, 07:00–18:00 weekdays, 12:00–18:00 weekends and bank holidays. Covers the EC, WC, W1, SW1 and SE1 postcode core.
- ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone): 24/7, all London boroughs inside the M25. Non-compliant vans pay £12.50/day on top.
- Combined: a non-compliant Luton van entering central London on a weekday now costs the operator £30.50 in road charges before fuel and labour.
What this means for your quote
Most professional London cleaners, removals firms and handymen now itemise a flat £15–£20 access charge for jobs inside the Congestion Zone, instead of hiding it inside the hourly rate. Hausio uses a flat £18 charge that bundles both Congestion Charge and ULEZ for the day, regardless of how many trips we make.
If you're outside the Congestion Zone but inside the ULEZ ring (most of zones 2–6), there's no access surcharge with reputable London providers — the whole industry has migrated to Euro 6 ULEZ-compliant fleets since 2024.
How to spot a fair quote
- The access charge is named explicitly — not buried in a higher hourly rate.
- It's a flat fee per day, not "per trip" or "per van" — multi-trip jobs shouldn't multiply.
- The provider confirms their van is Euro 6 ULEZ-compliant in writing. (You won't get a surprise £12.50 ULEZ fine on your invoice.)
