Painting & Decorating · London

House painting in London — prep done properly, finish that lasts.

Single-room repaints in a freshly-bought flat, full Farrow & Ball schemes in a Notting Hill terrace, sash window restoration on a Hampstead Edwardian, external doors on a Belgravia Georgian. We tape, fill, sand and prime before we open the topcoat — that's the part that decides whether your walls still look right in three years.

Painter vs handyman — when to call who

A handyman can touch up scuffs and repaint a single wall. For whole rooms, full flats and any period property work, you want a painter.

  • Prep is 70% of the job

Taping, filling, sanding, priming. If a painter shows up and starts rolling on day one, hire someone else — that finish will be flaking by the second winter.

  • Ceiling stain? Find the leak first

A new white ceiling won't hide a slow leak from the flat upstairs. We'll flag it before we paint, and you'll want a plumber to sort the source before we coat over.

  • Conservation areas & listed flats

External facade colours in Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Camden CAs need Listed Building Consent or planning sign-off. We won't touch a facade colour-change without it.

  • Materials, honest

Dulux Trade for landlord-spec, Crown for mid-range, Farrow & Ball or Little Greene where the spec calls for it. Receipts come with the invoice. No markup on paint.

Painting & decorating FAQ

Do you supply paint?

Either way. Bring your own colours (Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, whatever) and we work from it; or we buy at trade cost, no markup — Dulux Trade for landlord-spec, Crown for mid-range, F&B where called for. Receipts come with the invoice.

How long for a 1-bed flat?

~3 days with one painter, ~2 days with two. Walls in reasonable condition. Strip wallpaper, woodchip removal or heavy filling adds a day. Prep is 70% of the job — anyone skipping it is selling you a finish that won't last.

Can you paint over wallpaper?

Sometimes. Well-stuck, smooth (non-textured) paper can be primed and painted — fine for a quick pre-let refresh. Bubbled, peeling, woodchip or embossed paper needs to come off (or be skimmed over) first. We tell you straight on viewing.

One room or the whole flat — done properly.

Send room photos and the colour spec. We'll quote a fixed price.
